According to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Aston Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini has completed a permanent move to Serie A outfit Atalanta.
Gollini joined Villa from Hellas Verona back in 2016, and the 23-year-old made 20 Championship appearances during the 2016-17 season.
The former Italy Under-21 international has spent the last 18 months on loan at Atalanta, however, and according to Di Marzio, he has now agreed a permanent move to the Italian club.
There has not yet been any official confirmation from Villa or indeed Atalanta, but it does appear that the former Manchester United youth has left the Championship club ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.
And he will not be the last due to the club’s financial problems.
The Villa fans, who recently commented on Jed Steer’s future, have been reacting to the news, and it would be fair to say that they are pleased to see the back of the stopper.
A selection of the Twitter reaction can be seen below:
Not seen anything on their official page yet. Hopefully true though. He will come good at some point, but £4m is very much needed now.

Good for our situation but at the same time a shame, was a good keeeper and left on bad terms. Need a look into why so many fall out with the club, gabby, Richards, gollini, Ross, nzog and the list goes on
