According to Tuttosport, Aston Villa have been in contact with Barcelona over a move for Colombia centre-back Yerry Mina in the final week of the summer transfer window.
Everton were believed to lead the race for Mina, but Manchester United have since been credited with an interest as they switch their attention from Leicester City’s Harry Maguire.
However, Villa are now being linked with a stunning swoop for the 23-year-old.
It really would be some story if the Championship outfit could convince Mina to snub Premier League interest to make the move to Villa Park.
And the thought of Mina operating alongside James Chester at the heart of the defence would certainly be enticing for the Villa supporters.
That said, it would be fair to say that the Villa fans have taken the Mina reports with a pinch of salt, although there is rarely smoke without fire.
A selection of the reaction from the Championship outfit’s supporters can be seen below:
So stories everywhere about Utd in talks to sign Mina for £35m yet we’ve bid £18m… yeah ok, hope you all like Tommy Elphick! #avfc

I have it on good authority from a reliable source that Yerry Mina will not be joining #AVFC.
That source is common sense.
