Aston Villa have seen a dramatic few months as the club underwent a takeover and began the Championship season in decent form.
Steve Bruce’s side stand unbeaten so far after five matches and look to be strong contenders for promotion to the Premier League, after a heartbreaking playoff final defeat to Fulham back in May.
With a few days left to secure loan arrivals before the market slams shut, Bruce is actively seeking new recruits and an intriguing prospect has been raised as reports have suggested Gary Cahill could be brought back to the club from Chelsea.
Now 32, Cahill was an academy graduate at Villa Park and left in 2008 to join Bolton Wanderers, then joining Chelsea in 2012 and winning numerous honours at Stamford Bridge – while accumulating a total of 61 caps for England.
Following Maurizio Sarri’s arrival in West London, Cahill faces a stern fight for regular action and an exit has been suggested. It would certainly take a major coup for a deal to be agreed but many Villa fans are keen to see it happen.

Will always be a #avfc favourite for turning down a move to Small Heath for Bolton not to mention the goal he scored there

Great signing if it happens but the chances would be slim!
