Aston Villa in for League One goal machine

Aston Villa have approached Wolves to discuss a deal for in-form striker Leigh Griffiths, according to reports from The Metro.

The Scottish ace has been earning rave reviews for his displays in League One this term, where he has netted 13 goals for the Molineux-based side.

Paul lambert is desperate to add to his attacking line between now and the end of next week, and sees his compatriot as a wise purchase.

Griffiths himself may be open to a move, with the lure of Premier League action likely to be enough to force him to turn his back on Wolves.

Although he is a key part of the Midlanders’ team as they push for promotion, a deal could be reached with Villa having asked them to name their price – thought to be close to £2m.

Swansea and Celtic are also keen, but Lambert is confident that he can persuade the 23-year-old that the claret and blue shirt is the right choice for him.

Meanwhile, negotiations with Barcelona for youngster Jean Marie Dongou have stalled.

Villa were believed to be looking to secure a loan deal for the teenage ace.
