Villa boss Paul Lambert has been tracking the fortunes of Sako at Wolves as the 25-year-old left-winger took the Championship by storm before injury struck.
Sako, who won Wolves’ Player of the Year award last month, scored 10 goals in 38 appearances after joining for £3million from St Etienne last summer, but it was not enough to keep Wolves in the Championship and their relegation leaves them vulnerable to offers of their money back.
He was an ever-present in the league until he tore his hamstring in the 2-1 win over Bristol City on March 16 and didn’t make it back until the last week of the season when Wolves were doomed.
Norwich City scouts have been on the lookout for a pacy left winger and Sako comes into their price range, but they will face serious competition from Fulham and Villa – who are looking more secure in the Premer League.
