The 22-year-old has long been hailed as one of the best young players at the Blues’ disposal, yet he’s failed to make a first-team impact in west London.
Indeed, he spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace and Norwich, barely featuring for either side, but prior to that he enjoyed fruitful spells with Middlesbrough and MK Dons, notching 17 and 18 goals at each club.
He is, however, back at Chelsea, but reports claim that Aston Villa are lining up a move to lure him to the Midlands.
It’s unclear as to whether the Villans want him on loan or on a permanent basis, but given his potential the Premier League heavyweights are unlikely to be willing to sell as a knockdown rate.
Villa have already signed Ross McCormack for a sizable £12m fee following their drop to the Championship and could see Bamford as a good partner for the Scot.
