Aston Villa have made a late approach to sign Harold Moukoudi from French outfit Le Harve, according to L’Equipe.
Steve Bruce is looking to bolster his defensive ranks before the loan window slams shut on Friday and has turned his attention towards Europe in the search for the right addition, targeting Le Harve’s Harold Moukoudi.
L’Equipe state Villa have lodged an offer worth around £8m for the services of the France U20 international, who is likely to be on the move before Friday’s deadline as his current deal has less than 12 months remaining.
Le Harve are therefore tipped to cash in before the end of the European transfer window but Villa face a fight to get a deal over the line, as it is suggested the 20-year-old could look to remain in French football but sealing a switch to join Rennes.
Linked with West Ham and Burnley earlier this summer, according to The Daily Mail, Moukoudi is certainly a talent to keep an eye on in the coming years and a deal for Aston Villa would signify a major coup for Steve Bruce’s side.
Currently plying his trade in the second tier of French football, a deal for Moukoudi would likely see the 20-year-old move to Villa Park on loan until January before then making his switch to the promotion chasers permanent.
Bruce’s side are currently short of defensive options in the middle of the field and Moukoudi would certainly solve that issue, as well as presenting Villa with a long-term asset who can help the club return to the Premier League and cement their position back in the top-flight.
