Aston Villa owner takes to Twitter as winning run continues, fans react

Last season, Aston Villa fell short in their quest to earn promotion back to the Premier League, but in the current campaign, things are looking a lot more positive.

Steve Bruce’s side moved up to second in the Championship on Sunday when they earned a derby-day victory over Birmingham City.

Albert Adomah found the breakthrough for the Villans on the hour mark before Conor Hourihane added to the scoreline with nine minutes of normal time remaining.

The result not only gave Bruce’s side bragging rights, it extended the club’s winning league run to seven matches.

Villa are not in realistic contention to end the season as Championship winners due to Wolverhampton Wanderers having a 12-point lead, but if the campaign ended today, the Midlands outfit would be automatically promoted to the top flight.

As it stands, Villa have a one-point cushion in the top two, which means that they need to maintain focus for the upcoming games – next of which is a trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on Saturday.

Villa owner Tony Xia often interacts with the fans on Twitter, and after the weekend result, the Chinese businessman took to the social networking side.

Supporters responded in their droves.
