Newcastle winger Rolando Aarons has been offered to clubs in the Championship, according to The Northern Echo, and Villa should take a gamble on the 22-year-old.
Aarons was used by manager Rafa Benitez in two of the Magpies’ preseason fixtures, but was then left out of the Newcastle squad list that was submitted to the Premier League, The Northern Echo reports.
The Jamaican-born Englishman showed huge promise when breaking into the Newcastle team in 2014, but since then he has had awful luck with injuries that have hampered his development. Most recently, Aarons spent almost eight months on the sidelines with a ruptured Achilles tendon in the 2016/17 season.
The left-winger has also had issues off the field. In May this year he pleaded guilty to a charge of affray after a nightclub brawl and received a 10-month suspended prison sentence and was ordered to undergo 100 hours of unpaid work.
Aarons though could put all of this, and his poor loan spell with Hellas Verona last season, behind him with a temporary move to Aston Villa before the loan window closes at the end of August.
With young winger Andre Green failing to catch the eye in his two appearances so far this season, Aarons could be a shrewd signing by Steve Bruce as his side attempt to go one better than last season where they fell at the last hurdle, losing 1-0 to Fulham in the Championship playoff final.
The England youth international would provide huge pace out wide and if he could match this with end product he may still fulfil his potential and could help fire Villa back to the Premier League.
