The 19-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a switch to the Blues after impressing in a few brief cameo outings in the claret and blue shirt this season.
Despite the lure of a big switch to Stamford Bridge, the Republic of Ireland U-21 international is expected to stay in the Midlands, with Villa plotting a four-year contract offer for the teenager.
And Lambert believes that Grealish should look beyond a quick switch to the big time and stay where he is to develop as a player:
“Jack is developing. He’s nowhere near the finished article. He’s at the best place because he can get near the first team,” he is quoted by talkSPORT.
“He’s playing little bits here and there but he’s still far from being an established player. Hopefully something will be done.
“You have to put your best foot forward but we’re talking.”
Grealish is still eligible to represent England at senior international level due to being born in Birmingham.
