Aston Villa have made an offer for Bologna’s Amadou Diawara, according to the player’s agent.
The Villans were relegated to the Championship after a woeful 2015/16 campaign in the Premier League, but despite their divisional drop the Midlands side have been ambitious in terms of recruitment.
Indeed ex-Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has been drafted in with the aim of getting the Birmingham outfit back up at the first time of asking, while the £12m capture of Ross McCormack from Fulham has been one of the division’s headline-grabbing transfers in a sensational off-season.
Although Villa have spent big, there have been links with a £14.6m offer for 19-year-old ace Diawara, who has shone in Serie A with Bologna.
A swoop for the teenager is ambitious given the Villa Park club’s status right now, yet the player’s agent, Daniel Piraino, has revealed that there is an “offer” on the table from the claret and blue-clad team:
“The offer of Aston Villa? It’s true.” He told Sport Italia (via TuttoMercatoWeb). “But [for now] he tries to do everything for Bologna.”
Villa have made a solid start to life in the Championship with one win, one draw and one loss in the opening three matches.
