Outcast Aston Villa striker Darren Bent believes Villa boss Paul Lambert is wrong for the club and is taking them in the wrong direction.
In a recent interview picked up by the Birmingham Mail, Bent – who is currently on loan at Championship club Derby County – was critical of Lambert’s leadership at the Midlands club.
“Aston Villa are a fantastic club and he is taking them in the wrong direction,” Bent said.
The 30 year-old former England international was speaking in the aftermath of the Rams’ 2-0 FA Cup victory over Chesterfield, in which Bent was on the scoresheet for the first time in his Derby career.
Despite signing for Aston Villa from Sunderland for a club-record £24 million in 2011, Bent has been unable to enjoy great success at the Midlands club, and his career at Villa Park is now believed to be over. He also spent time on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion earlier in the season, scoring two goals in five games.
