Former Arsenal and Chelsea legend nearing Aston Villa move

Roma outcast Ashley Cole is nearing a surprise move to Aston Villa this January, according to reports in the Metro.

The 107 cap England legend has had a torrid time of it since moving to Italy last year and has been left out of the club’s Serie A and Champions League squads.

His frustrating time in the Italian capital could be drawing to a close however, as bottom side Aston Villa reportedly eye a short-term deal amid their relegation scrap.

With Jordan Amavi ruled out for the rest of the season, Villa Park chief Remi Garde is looking for experienced cover in the left-back berth.

Despite the failed Roma experiment, the 34-year old remains a certified Premier League legend thanks to his exploits with both Arsenal and Chelsea over the years.

He has won three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups and both the Champions League and Europa league across his illustrious playing career.
