HYS: Should Aston Villa move to sign Chelsea’s Hudson-Odoi?

It is all change for Aston Villa following the sacking of Steve Bruce last week, with the club confirming the appointment of Dean Smith as their new manager yesterday.

Former Villa defender John Terry has also returned to the club to become assistant manager and he could use his links with Chelsea to land an exciting forward on loan in January in the form of Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to reports.

The 17-year-old is highly-rated at Stamford Bridge and is expected to be on the move in January to earn regular first-team action, which could see him move to Villa Park to join fellow Blues loanee Tammy Abraham.

However, Villa do not necessarily need a new forward in January as they are the fourth-highest scorers in the Championship, only behind the top-three, and already have Jonathan Kodjia and Abraham impressing.

On top of this, Smith’s arrival could lead to the rejuvenation of Scott Hogan, who starred under the manager previously at Brentford, and a move for Hudson-Odoi would, therefore, be a waste.
