It has been a period of major change for Aston Villa, who endured a turbulent summer as they completed a takeover and have been fighting to find stability on the field.
Steve Bruce’s side remain within the grasps of the promotion charge in the early stages of the season but have not quite done enough to find themselves ranked amongst the favourites for a return to the Premier League.
While the battle on the field continues, further changes have taken place behind the scenes as Aston Villa confirmed the appointment of ex-Liverpool and Chelsea managing director Christan Purslow as their new CEO.
An announcement came on Friday morning and BBC journalist Dan Roan reported the news a few hours in advance, where Liverpool fans gave their assessment on the situation – and made it clear they feel sorry for Villa supporters.
We have gathered some of the best reactions below.
Aston Villa fans, you have my condolences. This guy is an absolute fraud, with no knowledge of football.

The man who once put me in a state of depression on a Sunday morning by claiming on 5 Live that Roy Hodgson was the right fit with credentials for LFC. We could listen back and think Monty python sketch now
