Aston Villa could make a shock swoop for former West Ham and Real Madrid winger Julien Faubert, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The 32-year old is a free agent after being released by Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in the summer and is thought to be interesting Villa Park chief Remi Garde.
Garde, who finds his side rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, is searching for reinforcements next month in order to boost the chance of keeping the club afloat.
The Midlands club are eight points from safety heading into the Christmas period having only managed to accumulate a miserable six points this season.
Now, Faubert could be in line for a return to these shores on a short-term deal in order to aid the cause at Villa Park.
He made over 100 appearances while with West Ham before making a shock move on loan to Real Madrid in 2009, where he was infamously pictured asleep on the bench during a match with Villarreal.
