The London club have been impressed by Benteke in his first season in the Premier League, but will face strong competition from Manchester City and Inter Milan.
The 22-year-old has scored 13 times for Villa in all competitions this season, helping them stay above the relegation zone, as well as reach the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
The Belgian’s strength and ability to hold the ball up have impressed Tottenham, who only have two recognised senior strikers in their squad. However, champions Manchester City are also monitoring the young striker, as they plan for a clear-out of players in the summer.
Italian giants Inter Milan are also keeping an eye on Benteke, as well as being rumoured to be interested in his teammate Andreas Weimann as well.
Benteke scored the winner in Aston Villa’s vital match against fellow strugglers QPR, a goal that could prove to be extremely important by the end of the season. The Belgian also impressed at Anfield, scoring two against Liverpool in the club’s 3-1 victory in December.
Benteke will be hoping to score again against Liverpool, as his side host the Reds on Sunday. Villa are only 3 points above the relegation zone and will be desperate to increase the gap.
