Barnsley are one of those clubs who seem to be too good for League One but then can’t quite cut it in the Championship, bouncing between the two on a regular basis.
However, they might have to start preparing for life in the England’s second tier again, as Jacob Brown’s last-gasp goal against Walsall last weekend significantly boosted their promotion hopes.
It was a result that left Tykes supporters in awe of their manager Daniel Stendel, as they reacted to a video of him celebrating their 1-0 win over their Midlands opposition.
Despite experiencing different promotion campaigns, one fan said he hadn’t felt this good about the team since the 1996/97 season when they were promoted to the top flight.
Barnsley’s manager is German and as a result, it also led to one individual sarcastically claiming that Europe did have something to offer, making reference to Brexit.
The Reds currently sit in second place in League One, five points off Luton in first and four points ahead of third-placed Portsmouth.
Here’s what supporters of the Yorkshire club have been saying.
Love this man’s passion ❤️
