Birmingham City’s Monk and Jutkiewicz nominated for EFL awards, but league makes huge error

Birmingham City saw two of their key figures nominated for the English Football League’s monthly awards with Garry Monk and Lukas Jutkiewicz in line for Manager and Player of the Month respectively.

The October round of the awards puts the boss up against Millwall’s Neil Harris, Queens Park Rangers’ Steve McLaren and Derby County’s Frank Lampard.

Birmingham, Derby and QPR all progressed through the month unbeaten, whereas Millwall tasted defeat to Reading.

As for the players, striker Jutkiewicz goes up against Norwich’s centre-back Timm Klose, Nottingham Forest’s attacking midfielder Joe Lolley and Sheffield United’s hitman Billy Sharp.

The two strikers both netted five times in October and both hammered home hat-tricks, but the Blues’ target man edged the Blades’ number 10 by an assist.

Now while most clubs would have fans singing their stars’ praises as soon as the nominations were made, the St Andrew’s faithful had other things to prioritise as the EFL spelt their duo’s names wrong. Spelling Garry as ‘Gary’ and Lukas as ‘Lucas’.

These Birmingham fans were certainly not impressed…
