Birmingham City have welcomed back their former player Craig Gardner, and the fans could not be more delighted.

The midfielder has returned to St Andrew’s from West Bromwich Albion on loan until the end of the season, but the move can be made permanent in the summer.

The Blues’ official website confirmed that Gardner will be offered a three-year deal at the end of the campaign, with an option of a further year.

According to the Birmingham Mail, it will cost the Championship club £1m to sign Gardner from West Brom, where he has spent the last two-and-a-half years.

The 30-year-old has not played since December 14 this and he only made nine appearances for Tony Pulis this season.

Gardner is somewhat of a fan favourite having supported the club as a boy and scoring 11 goals in 52 appearances during his spell from 2010 to 2011.

The fans have had their say on Twitter, with the majority of them delighted to see Gardner become Gianfranco Zola’s first signing of the January transfer window.
