Birmingham fans on Twitter were delighted with the performance of Gary Gardner in the 2-0 win over Millwall on Wednesday evening, as he impressed on his return from a two-game absence.

The 26-year-old midfielder missed the 3-3 draw with Hull through suspension before having to sit out the Second City derby against his parent club Aston Villa after his controversial loan move in the summer.

Against Millwall though he provided a calming presence in the centre of the park as an own goal from James Meredith and a strike from centre-back Michael Morrison ensured that the Blues left London with all three points and moved up to 10th in the Championship table.

Manager Garry Monk also provided Gardner with a reward for his performance by bringing on his older brother Craig with just over 10 minutes to go - the first time the two have lined up alongside each other for the Blues.
