According to freelance sports journalist Tom Heslop via his Twitter account, Birmingham City are considering making a surprise swoop to sign Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan this summer, and Blues fans have been quick to react to the rumour.

Brum boss Garry Monk, who is also reportedly eyeing a reunion with a 6ft 3in star he signed in 2015, will be determined to add to his attacking options this summer and to bring a goalscorer to St Andrew's, and someone like Hogan could be the ideal answer as he has 28 goals in 83 Championship appearances, while he had 21 in 36 in all competitions for Brentford before his move to Villa Park.

Things haven't quite gone to plan for the 26-year-old in the Midlands as he has suffered from injury problems and has struggled to get a regular spot in the starting XI under Steve Bruce, but even though that is the case Heslop says a deal could already be beyond the Blues because of the potential financial implications of the deal.

Birmingham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the shock link, and while one said "I'd love Hogan at St Andrew's", another said "£4/5 mill should be enough".
