AFC Bournemouth loanee Connor Mahoney may have scored his first goal in Birmingham blue, but not all fans are overly impressed with the 21-year-old.
The wide player featured for 71 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday in the Championship affair at St Andrew’s Stadium, and regularly contributed from the left-hand side of the field.
His glorious strike on 43 minutes from outside the box flew straight into the far corner of Cameron Dawson’s net and ensured the hosts went into the break level with the visiting side from Yorkshire, having conceded a 19th minute opener to Steven Fletcher.
In all, the Blackburn-born winger took on two shots, one blocked, one scored, but only completed 63% of his 16 attempted passes, according to WhoScored.
However, even though he made an impact defensively as well he didn’t impress some members of the St Andrew’s faithful…
Not the best first half mate tbf, and in fairness we were very lucky to get in at 1-1 but 2nd half we looked a lot better and deserved the goals. Some good goals in there as well, Mahoney’s in particular ??

Scored a great goal but I think his inexperience shows at times. Thought we were better when Wes Harding came on and Pedersen pushed forward. I prefer Mahoney coming on as a sub when he has more impact. https://t.co/rOCftpzvSX

UNBELIEVABLE WIN! First half was one to forget, but what a second! Mahoney’s goal was sensational. Ché finally got a goal that his hard work deserves and we all know the other scorer by now.. Lukas Jutkiewicz.
Yet again.. this team is SPECIAL! Thank you, @GarryMonk #BCFC #SOTV https://t.co/EeFpUa5hyf

Can’t believe my eyes, every week we’re just getting better and better. An amazing win today, was good to see Mahoney get a goal and Adams and The Juke doing what they do best. More to come, onto Derby at Pride Park next week #BCFC

A shaky start, go behind and being bossed a little by a very physical Wednesday side.
Wonder strike from Mahoney and we never looked back. Two very good goals in the second half and a deserved three points.
