Birmingham boss Garry Monk should make an ambitious January move to secure Chelsea ace Callum Hudson-Odoi on loan.

What’s the situation?

The Blues have had a strong start to the season under Monk and currently sit in 12th place in the Championship, one place behind bitter rivals Aston Villa with the derby to come on Sunday.

This has been a surprise to many given the torrid summer that Birmingham endured, as they fell foul of the EFL’s Financial Fair Play regulations and were placed under a transfer embargo.

Eventually, after working with the EFL, a deal was struck where Birmingham could sign up to five players, but none for a fee, and they were eventually allowed to register Danish left-back Kristian Pedersen.

However, if Monk is able to make a loan move in January then it should be one that drastically improves the quality of his squad, and Hudson-Odoi would certainly fit that bill.

The Playmaker FC squad decided to wind-up some unsuspecting Brazil fans at the Emirates on Saturday night. Watch the hilarious results in the video below...

Chance to impress

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are now willing to listen to loan offers for the 18-year-old winger in January after he has failed to break into Maurizio Sarri's team.

Hudson-Odoi impressed massively in pre-season for the West London side and was rewarded with a start in the Community Shield game against Manchester City. However, he has since been limited to just two substitute appearances in the Europa League and a temporary move away would surely be best for his development.

A huge talent with the confidence to run at players at will, Hudson-Odoi could be the ideal signing for Monk if Chelsea can be convinced to send him to the Championship rather than the bottom half of the Premier League, although he would surely get more game time with Birmingham than in the top division.
