Revealed: 48% of Birmingham fans urge Monk to bring Gallagher back to club

Garry Monk would have hoped for more transfer activity ahead of his first full season in charge of Birmingham City but proceedings at St Andrew’s appear to have stalled somewhat this summer.

The former Leeds manager is charged with sorting out the mess of a squad he inherited where Harry Redknapp’s reckless transfer approach has done the bulk of the damage and left him hamstrung him financially.

However, the current Blues crop is a shapeless bunch assembled by managers with varying ideologies; Redknapp, Gary Rowett, Steve Cotterill and Gianfranco Zola. It is up to Monk to put his own stamp on the team.

Rowett reportedly has his eye on a man who spent last season on loan at Birmingham, Southampton striker Sam Gallagher, and is willing to spend £7m to land the Englishman.

Given his recent history with the Blues, we asked their fans whether they would welcome a rival bid by Monk to boost their attack by bringing him to the West Midlands on a permanent basis.

It was close, but a majority 52 per cent didn’t want Monk to re-sign the striker, as shown by the full poll results below…
