Birmingham City recently issued a club statement that confirmed the club had been put under a transfer embargo by the EFL for breaking Financial Fair Play rules.

This means that the Blues are not allowed to sign any new players until the embargo is lifted, but also means that their only summer signing so far Kristian Pedersen cannot be registered to play league games when the season kicks off this weekend.

Manager Garry Monk currently has a thin squad and could be forced to play inexperienced keeper Connal Trueman in Birmingham's opening game of the season against Norwich. To offer some context, Trueman has just four appearances for Solihull Moors to his name in senior football.

Monk only joined Birmingham earlier this year and, according to The Daily Mirror, he was given assurances by the club's owners that FFP would not be a problem and that he would be able to make additions to his squad.

With just under a week to go until the transfer deadline, the owner's promises haven't come true and 57% of Birmingham fans that we polled thought that Monk could leave the club during the 2018/19 season.
