Blackburn plot move for Tottenham outcast

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David BentleyBlackburn are preparing a move for out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder David Bentley, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Championship side are keen to bring back their former player, and are lining up a loan swoop, with a view to a permanent switch during the summer.

Bentley has slipped off of the radar at Spurs during the course of the past few seasons, and has spent the first half of the current campaign with Russian side Rostov.

It is believed that he is keen to resurrect his career in England, which has alerted Blackburn.

The Ewood Park club are hopeful of securing promotion back to the Premier League, and see their former player as somebody who could help them achieve their goal.

With little in the way of a long-term future at Tottenham, he will likely be allowed to leave, so long as he can find an interested club.

Rovers are thought to be able to contribute to his £50,000-per-week wages, but will likely demand that his current employers shell out around 50% of this figure.

Bentley started his career with Arsenal before becoming one of the most promising players in English football with Blackburn.

This tempted Tottenham to make a £15m move in 2008, however he failed to settle in North London.

He left on loan deals with Birmingham and West Ham, but failed to reignite his career.
