In line with reports from London24, Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of former West Ham and France midfielder Alou Diarra.
The 33-year-old joins the Addicks on a free transfer after being released by the Hammers in the summer. He will remain a Charlton player until the end of the season, and as the defensive midfielder has achieved a great deal in the game with the likes of Marseille and Bordeaux, his new boss has had nothing but praise for the club’s latest addition.
“He will add some height, experience, and most of all, quality to the midfield,” claims Guy Luzon.
“It’s a coup for us that we can attract a player with so much international experience and I’m sure he will be fantastic for us.”
The Valley faithful may have some concerns over Alou Diarra’s fitness however. The former Hammers man simply failed to make an impact at Upton Park due to several lengthy-spells on the side-lines that kept him out of action for months on end.
Yet with the likes of Francis Coquelin returning to Arsenal from his loan spell and Milos Veljkovic ruled out with his own injury problems at this current stage, perhaps the former France captain will have to find his feet with the Addicks sooner than expected.
