Tom Lockyer has been a revelation since joining Charlton Athletic for free in the summer after the expiration of his contract with Bristol Rovers.
The 24-year-old has played every minute of the club’s Championship campaign so far, with his influence at the heart of the defence indicated by the fact he makes 1.1 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.9 clearances per game.
It is not only at club level that he has made his impact known, as he played the full 90 minutes in both of Wales’ must-win games during the international break, helping them to the two victories that earned his nation a place at Euro 2020:

This means that the centre-back has a reasonable chance of making the landmark tournament in the summer, injury permitting, which has left Charlton fans delighted for him.
There was also a sense of relief among some that they have the 24-year-old within their own ranks and they view his progression through the qualifiers as a well-deserved achievement.
