Charlton extended their unbeaten run to nine games with a 2-0 victory over Plymouth at Home Park on Saturday, with Lyle Taylor opening the scoring before Niall Canavan inadvertently doubled the Addicks’ lead after the break.
Taylor’s strike was his 16th league goal of what has been an impressive campaign for the number 9, although the Charlton fans directed their praise towards a player at the opposite end of the pitch.
The scoreline followed a trend that has arisen in the previous weeks – straight-forward and comfortable – although it was anything but and could have been very different if not for Dillon Phillips between the sticks.

The 23-year-old custodian denied Graham Carey from the spot after Krystian Bielik fouled Ruben Lameiras, and from that point the Addicks seized control of the game from their hosts and went on to win.
They went 12 points clear of Peterborough to further cement their place in the play-offs as a result, and they will surely be starting to dream of a trip to Wembley.
