According to a statement from Chelsea’s official club website, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori, who are currently on loan at Derby County, will be able to feature for the Rams in the Carabao Cup tie at Stamford Bridge on 31st October against their parent club.
Following Blues legend and Derby boss Frank Lampard’s request to be able to field the duo, Chelsea have accepted and that will come as a huge relief to the Yorkshire side and their fans.
19-year-old Mount in particular has impressed in the league this season, scoring three goals and assisting another in 12 games and has been fundamental in the Rams’ rise to fifth in the Championship standings.
After knocking Premier League big boys Manchester United out in sensational fashion in the third round, Lampard and Derby will be hoping that they can put on another giant killing against Chelsea – so news that two of their star men will be able to feature will give everyone at Pride Park a huge confidence boost.
Here’s how the Derby fans reacted on Twitter…
Fair play Chelsea. Much respect. <3
