Fulham will head to Newcastle on Sunday without Steve Sidwell as he starts a three-match ban after being sent off against QPR.
The Cottagers did lodge an appeal in an attempt to get Sidwell’s red card overturned, but without success and he will now sit out games against Aston Villa and Chelsea in addition to this weekend’s clash with the Magpies at St James’ Park.
Manager Martin Jol is also set to be without Ashkan Dejagah for at least a week after he sprained his ankle in the 3-2 victory over Harry Redknapp’s side.
Dejagah joins Mladen Petric, who is looking to overcome an adductor problem, in the treatment room and Mahamadou Diarra, who has already been ruled out for the season with a knee injury.
Jol said: “We’ve got the suspension of Steve Sidwell and that’s quite a big blow for us because he was playing well.
“He was a leader in midfield and appeared to have a very good combination with Giorgos Karagounis, so we have to come up with another solution now.”
