Blackburn Rovers have made a £6million bid for Nottingham Forest youngster Ben Brereton, according to The Sun.

What's the story?

The 19-year-old striker joined Forest after leaving the Stoke City academy back in 2015 and he has gone on to make 53 appearances for the first team, scoring eight goals already in his young career.

The England U19 international, who is valued at £4.5million on Transfermarkt, is now a reported target for Blackburn after the club's owners Venkys who are ready to splash the cash.

With the transfer window now shut, the move will have to be a loan to buy, but Forest want £12million for the highly-rated youngster according to the report.

Cash in or keep hold?

Aitor Karanka has left out Brereton in all of his matchday squads so far which could indicate he won't feature as much for Forest this season.

Having made 35 appearances last season, Brereton was an important first team player, but having now brought in Lewis Grabban, his chances may be limited at Forest.

If Karanka doesn't see a long-term future for Brereton at the club, now could be a good time to cash in on the youngster, particularly if they can get closer to their valuation of £12million.

It could be galling for Forest fans if they see him become a star at a Championship rival but that's the risk they will have to take.
