According to reports from the Mirror, Newcastle are keen to make a summer move for Nottingham Forest’s Ben Osborn if they gain promotion to the Premier League.

Alluding to past interest from the Magpies in the 22-year-old, the Mirror have revealed that Osborn will be a priority target for the North East club if they make an immediate return to the top-tier.
While confirming that the club indeed tried to sign Osborn during January, the report claims that Rafa Benitez is a big fan of the wide-man, who has netted four times this season and boasts 100 league starts despite his age.
Interestingly, Newcastle have had dealings with Forest in recent memory, snatching Jamaal Lascelles from the Tricky Trees in August 2014, before loaning him back to them for the season, hinting at a positive relationship between the clubs.

The big factor in this appears to be Newcastle’s promotion hopes. Although they have wobbled at stages this season, the Tyneside club are three points clear of Brighton at the top of the Championship and are a further six ahead of Huddersfield in the play-offs.
Given his talent, Osborn may be looked at by Premier League clubs over the summer, so Newcastle will be in a stronger position to snatch him up if they do secure a return to the top table.
