Between The Lines: Marcelo Bielsa is already dreaming of the Premier League

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa hinted in a recent interview with Leeds Live that he was dreaming of taking Leeds to the Premier League.

What did he say?

“I’m too much in love with my players so that’s why my opinion is not an objective one. Before sleeping, when I imagine we are playing against Liverpool I always think we can beat them.”

What did he really mean?

Bielsa let slip that he has big dreams for this Leeds side, and it is easy to see why after their strong start to life under the Argentine boss.

The Whites currently sit second in the Championship after 19 games, and the whole group has bought into the methods of Bielsa. Leeds are now a high-pressing team who play with an extremely high intensity, and they are certainly in with a chance of playing Liverpool in the league next season.

However, with a small squad and a number of injuries, Bielsa may have to add to his group of players that he loves so much. In January though they will have to hunt for quality if Bielsa is to lead them to the Premier League in such a competitive Championship season.

FA Cup scalps

As well as Bielsa’s dream to manage Leeds in the Premier League though, fans will be hoping that the Whites get a chance to play big teams this season with an FA Cup run.

The way that Leeds play could certainly unsettle some of the big teams in the country this season, and with Bielsa’s experience he would certainly have a plan to deal with some of the Premier League giants.

An FA Cup run would be huge for the Elland Road faithful, and would prove that the Whites are ready to get back to the big time.
