The January transfer window is flying by and we’re already over halfway through the month, yet somehow, Leeds still don’t have a new striker.
Marcelo Bielsa has stated in his press conference that Leeds are trying their hardest to find new players, but it seems as though the club are going to miss out on their number one target.
We’ve known for a while that the one man Marcelo Bielsa wants above anyone else is Che Adams.

The Southampton forward has been linked with a move to Elland Road for a number of weeks now, and despite reports claiming that the player and both clubs’ boards want the move, it seems unlikely to happen.
This is down to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s reluctance to let the striker go as Phil Hay has stated:
Adams is the player Bielsa wants. He was given a list, did his analysis and picked him out. But if Hasenhuttl isn’t budging, it’s got very little chance.

Hay didn’t really need to say ‘if Hasenhuttl isn’t budging’ because it’s been clear for some time now that the Saints manager doesn’t want to lose the former Birmingham City man.
The Austrian has made it clear in two of his press conferences that he needs the depth up top that Adams provides him with, so it seems as if this one does have very little hope of actually being concluded.
Of course, that very little chance is still there, but it could only really happen if the board go behind Hasenhuttl’s back, and in reality, how likely are they to want to cross a man who has led them to five wins in their last six games?
It seems that Leeds may have to look elsewhere with their striker pursuit this month.
In other news, Leeds may finally be about to replace Chris Wood.
