January has barely started and Leeds’ squad has already been weakened.
Phil Hay has previously stated that he’s heard that Leeds will be looking for replacements for both men, but Marcelo Bielsa’s most recent comments show that they may only need one new addition.
The manager was speaking after the West Brom game about Tyler Roberts’ absence from the matchday squad due to injury.

“He didn’t feel 100 per cent recovered from the problem in his leg,” Bielsa said.
“Maybe he could have participated, but we didn’t want to risk him.
“We think he’s a choice at centre-forward and also as a playmaker. He can play as a winger too. We want to protect him.”
If Bielsa is being truthful when saying that he sees Roberts as being a player who can play in three different roles, then surely Leeds only need one signing?
Let’s be honest, United won’t be missing Clarke very much as he only played one league game all season, so the thought of the Whites dipping into the transfer market to replace him always seemed a bit foolish.
That’s even more so now that Bielsa has stated that the 20-year-old can do a job on the wing.
Bielsa also says that he can play as a striker, and while that may be true, his injury record alongside his commitments in an attacking midfield position mean that United’s best course of action is probably to dip into the market to sign a new forward.
Roberts’ versatility will be handy when it comes to saving money, which is exactly what Leeds need with their current FFP situation.
