Eastern European giants hoping to pip Leeds to Norwich outcast

After being surplus to requirements for much of the season so far, Norwich are looking to loan out Kyle Lafferty for the remainder of the campaign, with Red Star Belgrade the favourites to sign the Northern Ireland international, reports Kurir.

Red Star’s attention was drawn to Lafferty when he was on a half-season loan in Turkey last season, but the Eastern European outfit face competition from Leeds.

The sleeping giants of English football wanted to add Lafferty to their squad before the emergency loan deadline, but are now holding out for a move in January.

With the European Championships around the corner, the giant marksman is likely to be keen to get first-team football to prepare for the tournament in France, where his nation will be underdogs

Lafferty has previously been linked with a return to Italy, but it is thought that he is unlikely to want to take the risk of moving to a club where first-team football is not guaranteed.
