Needless to say, 24-year-old Kalvin Phillips is simply an irreplaceable part of Marcelo Bielsa’s jigsaw at Leeds United.
The defensive midfielder has already played 2767 minutes across all competitions in 2019/20 and has started all 28 games he’s been available for.
He’s missed four games through suspension – one game due to yellow card accumulation and then three in a row just recently for a red card suspension – and the Whites lost two of those fixtures.
But against Brentford, Phillips returned to the starting XI and he marked the occasion with an Instagram post for his followers.
Unfortunately for Bielsa and Leeds, their concerning run of form has allowed the likes of Fulham and Nottingham Forest to close the gap on the automatic promotion places and jeopardised their promotion charge in the process.
Nevertheless, if the caption of the midfielder’s snap is anything to go by, he was satisfied with the squad’s performance and he feels they deserved to win that clash.
The return of the Yorkshire Pirlo could be exactly what Leeds need to rekindle their early season form.
