Leeds fans are furious with latest transfer update

Leeds United’s managing director Angus Kinnear has heaped praise on Marcelo Bielsa’s training methods, but fans are worried about what it could mean for summer transfers.

Bielsa has a lot of work to do at Elland Road. The enigmatic new Leeds boss has already shipped several young players off on loan, including the misfiring Jay-Roy Grot, and he now needs to add to his squad.

Above all else, the squad is crying out for a proper goalscorer, and fans were furious when Nottingham Forest secured Lewis Grabban this week.

Matej Vydra seems the most likely solution, and Abel Hernandez has also been heavily linked, but Kinnear’s latest comments are raising some red flags amongst fans.

“Anybody who followed Leeds last season will have seen that the players didn’t play to 100 per cent of their potential,” Kinnear said.

“I know there’s a massive interest about who we’ll bring in but I also think we’ve got players with fantastic potential if they’re playing at 100 per cent, rather than 70 per cent.

“That could be the difference between last season and doing something significant.”

Kinnear continued to say they are working on addressing weaknesses in the squad, but once again stressed that it makes sense for Bielsa to spend time with the current crop of players so he can “fine-tune” his requirements.

While it does seem a sensible approach, fans have been here before, and they can’t believe they’re letting their transfer business run down to the last minute again.
