Leeds fans are pleased to see the back of Samu Saiz

On Thursday afternoon, Leeds United announced on their official website that Samuel Saiz had joined Girona on a permanent deal.

The 28-year-old left the Whites to join Getafe in January and ended the 2018-19 campaign with one goal in 13 appearances for the Spanish outfit.

Saiz will not be returning to Elland Road for the new season, however, as Girona have signed him on a permanent deal, with Leeds listing the fee as “undisclosed”.

The attacker departs the English club having scored 10 times and registered 12 assists in 58 appearances in all competitions.

Saiz certainly had his moments for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

However, it would be fair to say that a number of the club’s fans are pleased to see the back of the Spaniard, who decided he wanted to return his homeland halfway through the 2018/19 season.

Leeds are currently in Australia preparing for the new Championship campaign but will not be able to call upon Saiz.
