Leeds fans are raving about Ryan Edmondson

Leeds pre-season preparations continued this week as they suffered a disappointing 4-0 defeat against Manchester United in Australia.

The match came after Marcelo Bielsa decided to split his squad in two, sending 16 first team members to the other side of the world whilst keeping some of his players back in England.

And those who stayed played in a 5-1 hammering of Tadcaster Albion as Leeds achieved victory on the same day as they had also been put to the sword by United.

During that win, 18-year-old Ryan Edmondson was on hand to score a hat-trick as he put himself firmly in the thoughts of the coaching staff ahead of the new season.

His performance was enough to earn stellar reviews from Leeds supporters who took to Twitter to praise the teenager. One fan called him brave, describing the forward as more potent than Patrick Bamford.

A further individual joked that he’d now be on the Ballon d’Or shortlist whilst other supporters called for him to be put in the first team. One fan said he had to be given starts. Another said he had to be on the bench at least.

Edmondson made two outings in the Championship last term but only played 35 minutes across the two fixtures.

The Leeds man started a game against QPR in the 2017/18 season but hasn’t been afforded much of a taste of senior football yet.

Here’s the best of the reaction.
