Leeds fans are reminiscing over the day they returned to the top-flight in 1990

Leeds fans have been reminiscing about the opening day of the 1990/91 season, and the trip to Everton which marked their first taste of football back in the top flight.

With a bit of luck, they may get to experience the same feeling 30 years on, though there is a lot of work to do from now until May if they are going to secure a promotion spot.

Regardless of the team’s chances this year, supporters are looking back on that day with fond memories, with some admiring the team that took to the field, which included players such as Gordon Strachan, Gary Speed and Gary McAllister.

Not only did the game mark Leeds’ return to the big time, but they also ran out 3-2 winners too thanks to goals from Speed, Chris Fairclough and Imre Varadi.

For many supporters it was a great day out and brings back memories of a wonderful period for Leeds, and each will hope that a return to those days is just around the corner.
