Leeds fans have been reacting to the news that Yosuke Ideguchi was once again left completely out of the squad by his loan side Cultural Leonesa.
Ideguchi signed for Leeds in January after a successful spell with Japanese side Gamba Osaka. The 21 year-old midfielder earned rave reviews in Japan, and already has 11 international caps for the senior side.
Leeds have not exactly impressed their fans with their transfer window activity recently, and the signing of Ideguchi is becoming the most bemusing move yet.
The youngster has made just five appearances for the Spanish second tier side, who are currently fighting for their lives in the Segunda Division, three points adrift of safety. Some of their fans even took the time to explain to Leeds hopefuls why Ideguchi wasn’t playing this weekend, and it doesn’t sound optimistic.
With him we lost all the matches and he didn’t contribute anything. Last match Sergio Marcos played very well and we won. Ideguchi is still in adaptation period but we are playing our lives in the Second division… the first and more important thing is to win and save us

Ideguchi was highly regarded in Japan, so his unsuccessful development stage in Spain could just be a bump in the road. He is expected to star for his country in this summer’s World Cup, so Leeds could yet see a considerable return on their £500k investment, even if they decide to move him along after the summer.
Still, Leeds fans have had plenty of reasons to attack their club’s transfer dealings in recent years, and the enigmatic signing of Ideguchi is becoming another failure on a long list.

That loan never made any sense. He should be here. Learning the lingo, the climate, the culture of English football. Can we swap him for O'Kane.

I just don’t get it. Our midfield is garbage and we have two internationals out on loan

He was only bought to sell shirts in Japan.

What an utterly pointless arrangement this is for all parties involved. @andrearadri Can you shed some light on the relationship we have with this club and how it benefits a) leeds United and b) any of our players. I'll take any failure to responds as "no you can't" thanks

Call him back and loan him somewhere that will actually benefit him. If nobody in England is interested in loaning him, then he’ll never be good enough to play for us anyway. #LUFC

The most pointless, non-sensical loan I can remember.
