Leeds United got back to winning ways on Wednesday night as they beat bottom-of-the-table Ipswich Town 2-0 at Elland Road.
The victory ensured the Yorkshire outfit returned to the top of the Championship after slipping down previously having taken just the one point from the previous six available.
Goals from Kemar Roofe and Liam Cooper ensured all three points for Marcelo Biesla’s men, putting the club back level with Middlesbrough on 26 points but holding a far superior goal difference to take their place at the summit once more.
It had been a solid display by the hosts, holding a staggering 18 shots to the visitors’ mere three, and a possession total 30% greater than the Tractor Boys.
Accuracy with those efforts, though, nearly cost the Lilywhites having only managed to see five of those shots hit the target.
These Leeds fans are certainly taking a cautious view on returning to first place having witnessed the recent wobble.
It’s nice to wake up and see Leeds top of the league as it means we’re doing well, at this point. But I can’t get excited about it, until there’s points between us and the teams below. The league this year is so so tight. We need to put another run together now ??????

Great to wake up top of the league #Lufc and hope it can last. Will have to play more like we did in the first four games than in the last four tho..

It’s hard not to say automatic promotion right now. But knowing leeds, the players we have, the miracles that Marcelo is working atm. I’d say 3rd or 4th. Playoffs

Don’t have the key injurys we have had in the last 6 weeks and I say top 2 but that’s where luck comes in,2 qaulity players to come back at Xmas in bamford and Izzy Brown and maybe 2 or 3 qaulity players to add in jan,we still dominate the ball on every match

To say we’ve had a ‘blip’ and we’re still top, where would we be without it though? #lufc
