Leeds fans delighted to see Wiedwald leave

Leeds United confirmed on Tuesday that German goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald had left the club for Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 28-year-old joined Leeds from Werder Bremen in last summer’s transfer window, and started the season as the Championship outfit’s number one.

Wiedwald lost his place in the team following a string of errors, however, which led to criticism from a number of Leeds supporters.

It became clear in the early stages of 2018 that Wiedwald would be leaving Elland Road this summer in search of pastures new, and it seems that Leeds have agreed to rip up the goalkeeper’s contract to allow him to move on.

The former Germany Under-20 international arrived with a big reputation, but the move to Leeds, who are now under the management of Marcelo Bielsa, simply did not work out, and his exit makes sense for all involved.

The Leeds supporters have been reacting to the news on social media, and many have taken the chance to poke fun at the stopper one last time.
