Patrick Bamford scored his first Leeds United goal in the club’s 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers in the first round of the League Cup on Tuesday night.
Bamford was criticised by the Leeds fans for his performance off the bench against Derby County at the weekend, but the striker will now be feeling a lot better about himself.
Indeed, the summer arrival from Middlesbrough was handed a starting role as Marcelo Bielsa rung the changes from the club’s first two Championship matches of the season.
Bamford made the breakthrough in the 27th minute after smart work from Samuel Saiz, who doubled Leeds’ advantage at Elland Road.
It was a huge moment for Bamford, who would have been absolutely desperate to get his career with Leeds up and running as soon as possible.
It was a smart finish from the 6ft 1in centre-forward as well, and he will now be looking to kick on in the coming weeks.
