Journalist David Prutton recently wrote a piece in the Yorkshire Evening Post highlighting the huge improvements seen in Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips’ game this season.
The 23-year-old has been a key figure at Elland Road this season, and his commitment, work rate and versatility have seen him play a central role in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans. Whilst he’s had some difficult performances during the campaign, Bielsa has retained faith in the club’s academy product, and Phillips has worked his way back into form each time.

Last season it was very different for Phillips. He struggled for consistency and many fans lost faith in his ability to contribute at Championship level. This time around he has been one of the Whites’ star men though. Bielsa deserves plenty of credit for this transformation, but so does Phillips himself.
The midfielder has worked hard, improved his game in key areas and is now reaping the rewards of his development. In response to Prutton’s article, plenty of Leeds fans took to Twitter to praise Phillips’ recent progress…
What a difference a season makes. This time last year many wanted him out and blamed most of our ills on him. Always knew there was a player there. Lots of humble pie being eaten around these parts

This is a great read. I was a fierce Philips critic but have been proven completely wrong by him this year and have never been happier to be so wrong. What Bielsa has seen and nurtured in him is just amazing. #lufc

Definitely a future England player! The vultures will be circling soon if he keeps this form up

KP has come on leaps and bounds this season but he needs to be kept in midfield where he’s most valuable

Been a fan of this lad for years (hes a Leeds fan like us) but cannot say the same for a lot of Leeds fans who sit near me every week. I hope they read this and know how wrong they’ve been to not back one of our own, although after Wednesday night they probably already do!

He’s an absolute powerhouse of a player who deserves massive credit for his performances this season & like a few others in a squad that finished mid table last season also has the genius of Marcelo Bielsa to thank. Well done Andrea for bringing Marcelo to Leeds #lufc

Both him and Cooper have silenced the boo boys. Bielsa though, must take massive pleasure and credit for their improvements. I can only imagine what thoughts goes through his head, when all the training ground work translates to our free flowing we are seeing this season.
