A number of Leeds United fans have taken to social media to discuss the left-back spot following an article from The Athletic journalist Phil Hay.
Hay asked whether Barry Douglas or Ezgjan Alioski were the answer for Leeds on the left of defence, or whether the club needed to think about another option in the future.
And it would be fair to say that there were a lot of mixed views on the subject.
Some claimed that Douglas would thrive if given the opportunity of a regular run, but the 30-year-old has been in and out the team this season – making just 11 Championship appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.
Douglas week in week out is the answer, solid run of games and he will be great in my opinion.

Think Douglas needs to start more but Berardi was superb at left back when he had to cover that position

100% douglas, just needs more game time

Others, though, claimed that Leif Davis was the answer in that area of the field.
Call yourself a Leeds expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?
The 20-year-old has made five first-team appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side during the current season, although he has not featured in the league since November.
Leif Davis unless he goes to Liverpool big interest from them in the summer

A selection of other fans suggested that a new signing was needed, however.
It will certainly be interesting to see whether the Whites dip into the market before the January window closes for business. They are in an excellent spot in the Championship table – second to West Bromwich Albion – but there is still a lot of football to come.
Need another option all together
