Leeds fans were massively impressed by Tyler Roberts on Tuesday, as the young striker scored his first Leeds goal in the friendly defeat to Oxford.
It’s fair to say more than a few things went wrong at Elland Road last season, but injuries were undoubtedly one of the biggest factors in the club’s disastrous season.
The season started out pretty well, but injuries to key players like Luke Ayling were extremely costly, made worse by the fact that the club seems to have a knack of signing injured players.
That’s exactly what happened with Roberts, who joined in January but failed to play a single game last season.
The 19 year-old is very highly rated, and his pace and eye for goal would have been a welcome addition during the struggles under Paul Heckingbottom.
The Welsh youth international finally got to show what he’s made of on Tuesday, scoring a wonderful goal in the 4-3 defeat to Oxford.
Roberts may not be the calibre of player that’s going to carry the goalscoring load for the club, but Marcelo Bielsa’s hunt for a new number nine could be less stressful if the youngster continues his impressive start.
Fans are heaping praise on the striker, and expecting big things to come from him this season. You can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…

That’s what we have been lacking, someone with that instinctive finish, not afraid to soot from anywhere, good luck this season , #MOT
